quick, lord, ring the alarms

something comes this way

with many thrashing arms.


red and quick and strange

and violent, the beast can

attack us all at range.


of course, the beast is metaphor

to make us fear what is in store

for the heart that opens up to love:


a creature that pins you to the floor

is certainly no pigeon dove.
