a sharp dish edge off a broken plate,
shattered in carelessness,
cuts the cute unwilling hand. damn,
a suck on the wound and a furrowed
brow. how did I miss that? a second
later, head against the cabinet.
dammit! wheel around to find a hand
whipping over a tall glass of water.
a shuffle of feet as it all hits the floor,
soft under skin finds wet glass and
there you go, falling on your ass. quick,
vault up the stairs, toward the bathroom
that works. of course your soggy, bloody
foot misses that shiny top step. down
you careen, missing the rail, smashing
your brains out while the house claims
another victim and lengthens its tale.
